How Can I Dispose Of My Light Bulbs And Batteries?

Battery With Recycle Sign Overlay

As Hazardous Waste Products which contain dangerous chemicals including Mercury and Lead, used Low Energy Light Bulbs and batteries must be disposed of in a safe and appropriate manner. Energy Saving Light Bulbs cannot be placed in Glass Recycling Banks or landfill, and must be disposed of in a different way. Many recycling centers will collect your used Fluorescent Tubes and Energy Saving Light Bulbs.
In the case of a Energy Efficient Light Bulbs or Fluorescent Tube which is broken, the Light Bulb or Tube must be treated with care as these products can contain mercury. Traditional 'Incandescent' Light Bulbs are not recyclable, and you should dispose of these in your rubbish bin.
