Some older designs had quite a high "colour temperature" which may be perceived as "colder" but many energy saving lamps now use a "warm white" coating to make the light very similar to a normal incandescent bulb.

These energy saving mini candles are very bright once they warm up but they take quite some time to achieve full brilliance. Longer than other energy saving lamps I have.

These bulbs are, generally, fine. However I ordered 2 in Oct 2011 and on delivery noted that both bulbs had cracks in them. The packaging provided by BLT was very good and it looked as though the damage had been caused before the bulbs had been despatched. I rang BLT and they said they would replace immediately. The replacement bulbs arrived quickly but this time one of them was broken. Again the packaging by BLT was very good. I rang them again and they said they would replace and their representative said he would personally check the bulb before despatch. A replacement arrived, again broken. BLT then stated that they will issue 2 \'final\' replacements, which duly arrived. One was broken but one was OK. So, out of 7 bulbs delivered 6 were broken and only 2 received intact. I advised BLT that the problem appeared to be with their stock and not damage in the post! Customer Service at BLT is excellent.
