11 Great Ways to Recycle Incandescent Bulbs

Making the switch to LED light bulbs is a hugely effective way to slash the nation’s CO2 emissions. Incandescent bulbs may be on their way out, but that doesn’t mean they should be sent on a one way journey to landfill. In fact, old light bulbs can easily be turned into artistic DIY projects that belong anywhere but the trash!
Here’s some ideas to get you inspired:
Breathe new life into your burnt out lightbulbs by sprucing them with metallic spray-paint. They make dazzling wedding table decorations when arranged in glass jars or strung from trees.

Use larger bulbs to create miniature terrariums complete with dirt, miniature animal toys and faux plants.

If you’re a craft/home maintenance whiz try using old bulbs to create concrete moulds. You can then glue them to silver fittings and screw in some seriously unique wall hooks and drawer knobs.

Reimagine the concept of chandeliers by creating your very own pendent from lightbulbs. It’s eco-chic at its finest!

Fill an old incandescent bulb with oil, secure a wick and light a match for a beautiful take on a classic oil lamp.

Brighten up any space by filling a light bulbs with water and using it as a transparent flower vase. Secure it in place by gluing to a wooden block or fashioning a wire pedestal.

Old incandescent bulbs also look industrially stylish when strung from a chain and used as hanging planters for herbs and other small plants.

Rock your old incandescent bulbs by turning miniature versions into unique necklace pendants. A little wire twisting skills will go a long way!

Create one of a kind Christmas ornaments by painting your old light bulbs with festive scenes. Think snowflakes, gingerbread men, nativity scenes and more!

Get uber creative by supergluing together a handful of bulbs to build your very own glass sculpture. Looks great when done with a myriad of different shapes, sizes and styles.

After a thorough clean, old lightbulbs can be turned into on-trend spice jars.

Recycling’s not just for milk cartons and plastic bags. With a little imagination and a touch of creativity, old incandescent bulbs can be turned into statement style pieces that look fantastic in homes and businesses alike. If you’ve resolved to go green in 2016, this is a great place to start!
