Just the right brightness

I bough these bulbs to give the illusion of daylight in a very dark windowless hallway and it exceeded my expectations. It was far brighter than a 75 W tungsten lamp, possibly because the beam is directional radiating predominantly downwards whereas a tungsten lamp radiates in all directions and, if you use a lamp shade, much of this would be wasted.
