How much energy do G4 LED bulbs save?

How much energy do G4 LED bulbs save?

G4 LED bulbs use up to 80-90% electricity then traditional halogen or incandescent bulbs.  They are a great choice for those looking to save money on electricity bills and for people that are looking for an eco-friendly option as well.   They are able to produce the same amount of brightness for a much lower wattage meaning that you do not have to compromise on brightness or light quality either.

Wattage Difference

To understand the difference which gives us these savings it will help to compare the wattage. A typical halogen G4 bulb will use 10W to 20W of power, depending on the level of brightness.  A LED bulb however produces the same amount of light but will only need to use 1.5W to 3W to do so. It is easy to see how this will lead to lower energy use once you see these two figures compared with each other.

Heat Consumption

G4 LED bulbs also use less heat than halogen bulbs as they produce light differently to how light is produced with a halogen bulb.  LEDs produce light via electroluminescence which is the process when light is created when a current is passed through the bulb.  Halogen bulbs in contrast produce light by heating up the filament inside of the bulb.  A lot of the energy used to ignite a halogen bulb is used on this heat and what is left over is what we see as the light.

LED lifespan

A LED G4 bulb can also last up to 10 times longer than their halogen predecessors. This means they will not have to be replaced as often and there will be less waste as less bulbs will need to be used over time.  LEDs bulbs are undeniably the most energy and cost efficient option for lighting, especially over a long period of time.

Environmental impact

Environmental impact is also a key reason for choosing LED G4 bulbs.  As they use less electricity this leads to reduced carbon emissions associated with the energy use and production of these bulbs. Their longer lifespan also means fewer bulbs end up being disposed of making them a highly sustainable lighting solution.
