Was bit concerned that as used as security lights they would not be bright enough immediately. However was pleasantly surprised that they are just as good as the non energy saving bulbs. Would recommend.

I found these lamps are quite dim when first switched but slowly get brighter and reach full intensity after about a minute when the light emitted is excellent. Although they cannot be dimmed like the original version they are using only a quarter of the power and are supposed to last many times longer.

I bought three of these to replace three 80W bulbs in my kitchen. I was skeptical about the claim of 120W equivalent and expected them to be similar to the 80W bulbs having found such claims to be exaggerated. However, I found that three of these were much too bright. I\'m only using two bulbs now and they are at least as bright as the three 80W bulbs so they live up to the claim. That\'s a saving of 200W. As these are the main lights in my kitchen and are used for hours at a time (in winter) they will soon pay for themselves and save the environment at the same time. As you would expect with this type of bulb there is a slight delay when switched on but it is only slight. They are a little dim when first switched on but they quickly reach full brightness. They look good too. You can just see the coil of fluorescent tube behind the obscure glass of the bulb when switched off but otherwise look just like the original bulbs I\'ve replaced. I\'ve not had them long enough to test their longevity but so far I would recommend them to anyone who is replacing old bulbs of this type.
