I purchased this bulb to replace the standard 50 watt halogen bulb fitted in my desk lamp. As a draughtsman (creator of technical drawings for the construction industry), I found the yellow colour cast emitted by normal household and halogen bulbs a bit of a strain on the eyes after a while, but I was also dissuaded from purchasing an equivalent \'daylight bulb\' by the advertised light blue colour cast they emit. This bulb pretty much fits in half way between the \'yellow\' halogen bulbs and the \'blue\' daylight bulbs - in fact it has almost no colour cast at all, just pure white light. In my opinion, this makes it ideal for reading plans, creating technical drawings and I imagine many other work and hobby-based applications too
